History
BMK Printers Ltd was set up in 1973 by Brian Parker
and two partners, with a single colour printing press. Initially, as many start up printers did at
the time, the company premises comprised of a small workshop housing the press.
The partners began to do work for the company in the evenings
after doing
their regular jobs during the day.
Gradually, the workload
increased to the point that the partners gave up their regular jobs to
commit to BMK full time. The company gained a reputation for quality work,
which in turn attracted more work. In turn the business grew and it was
time to expand.
By 1985, Brian was the sole proprietor of
BMK, having bought out his two partners, and the firm moved to
larger premises in Dagenham. By now the firm had established a
pre-press and finishing department to compliment it’s four colour SRA2
presses.
As BMK’s reputation grew still further, so
did the work, and the company expanded from the single unit it originally
had to a premises occupying more than 9000 sq. ft., where it still
operates from today.
1998 saw new investment in 4 colour B2
presses, a binding line and a Computer to Plate system, eliminating the need for film, and
improving quality and speed still further.
2004 saw an investment in a new fleet of
delivery vehicles to cope with demand, and 2005 saw an investment in a new
6 colour B2 press, further boosting BMK’s firepower in the pressroom.
BMK now counts many well known names amongst
its clients – not a bad leap from such humble beginnings!
2007
saw us move into the Digital Printing World which now gives us even more
flexibility in this demanding world of printed materials.
Here’s to the next 30 years!
